Time Concepts

speed:

Lene Vestergaard Hau: slowing down progression/time of the performance to an absolute halt in an condensate of documentation. Based on LVHs success in slowing and "freezing" a light beam in 2001. Museum of Contemporary Art, Denmark and "Performing Science", Giessen, 2011.

Piece of Cake: eating a piece of cake in 60 minutes and compressing the recording into 60 seconds to investigate how the natural and incontrollable "rhytm of the body" (breathing, swallowing) collides with the almost natural speed of cake eating. National Museum of Stettin, 2008.

direction:

Søren Kierkegaard: walking backwards and forwards and speaking backwards and forwards, in an investigation of how the direction of events influence the understanding of them (the narrative); based on Søren Kierkegaards dictum that "we live forward, but comprehend our lives backwards". Mellemrum Festival, Copenhagen 2008.

The Evidence: performing a breakfast scenario backwards for a camcorder and reversing the movie immediately. Based on a text in a physics book saying we wouldn´t notice it if time ran backwards (because our memory would, too). Turbinehallerne, Copenhagen 2007, Electronic Church Berlin, 2007, Salon K, Berlin, 2009.

Kunststykker: a videowork based on the figure "Bamse" from the Danish TV series for children; a playful investigation of circus acts that can be performed forwards with a lot of rehearsal. ZENE+ festival, Viften, Rødovre, 2008.

material:

Ole Rømer: Using a light beam to erect an eternal pillar of light into the universe. Based on ORs insight that light has a definite and measurable speed. Blauverschiebung Festival, Leipzig, 2008, Glogau Open air Gallery Berlin, 2009.

Train Strip: a video work playing with the similarities between a Berlin S-train in the night and a film strip. Berlin, 2008.

repetition:

The Repetition of the Repetition: an attempt to repeat the same walk every day over a month, performed for the book form. Based on Søren Kierkegaards book "The Repetition". Presented in Viften, Rødovre, and in Roter Salon, Volksbühne, 2010.

IN/visible: Third in a series of interviews and photos of people in vanishing places. Two photos are being made, with and without the person. Tempelhof Airport on its last day in use. Preview Artfair. Berlin, November 2008.

space:

Niels Bohr: a performance, where I keep running in orbits (of an atom). If I am stopped, I explain how the position of an electron can never be pinpointed exactly without the observer interfering with the observation. Nordwind Festival, HAU Theatre, Berlin and DISKURS festival, Giessen, 2009.
