Ole Rømer
A tribute to the danish astronomer, Ole Rømer, who lived from 1644-1710 and described the socalled "hesitation" of light. He realized that light has a certain speed, which is not indefinite, but is now calculated to 299 792 458 m/s. That means that any lightbeam in universe is as long as the action or object that created it. One minute of light creates a beam with a length of 1.079.252.849 kilometres ( =1 billion, 79 millions, 252 thousand and 849 kilometres) an eternal pillar of light which will travel through space forever.
This action has been performed twice. Once in Leipzig at the "Blauverschiebung" Festival, April 2008, with the title "8 Minutes of Light", and once at a Glogau Open air arrangement in Kreuzberg, Berlin, July 2009.
